I'm now testing some Java code which is connecting to a Japanese payment gateway to simulate someone choosing to pay at the Lawson convenience store. When the customer actually pays at the convenience store, Lawson's server will ping us and let us know we can dispatch the goods to them.
It's interesting stuff but the right now I'm debugging as to why the Japanese error messages that are coming back are getting corrupted. It's a character set problem for sure but finding the right spot to fix is the problem.
Posted by stuartcw at March 11, 2003 12:29 PMWhat are the various eMoney projects underway in Japan? I've briefly read about Eddy(Sony), and the Saison cards. Are there good resources in English about these .. or about their business models?

We have been looking at WebMoney(1) as well as "Pay at Lawson", which is run by a partner company to the one that I work at.
Unfortunately, there is almost no information in English about Japanese payment Gateways, so if you are not 100% fluent in reading specs you need at least one Japanese Engineer to help you.

I have been pondering about blogging about convenience stores in Japan .. starting with AMPM. Also, interested in the various business/technical models on eMoney, mobile, and games in Japan.
