This is probably old news but I have been looking for a close comment
script for MT that can close comments which are *not* hosted in a
database. Just in case anyone else needs it:
"MT-Close2 for Movabletype.
MT-Close2 allows you to close comments and trackbacks on multiple entires and blogs on the same installation of MT in one go. This helps fight off comment spam by closing of old entries. "
